Kamilah Williams is the weekend morning anchor and multi-skilled journalist at 13WMAZ News in Macon, GA. Her extensive news experience has won her an Emmy, National, and Regional Edward Award. She started at WMAZ in January 2022 and was promoted to the weekend anchor position in June 2023. After a year on the evening show, she was promoted to mornings. She covers health-related issues, the multi-million dollar interchange project on Georgia's busiest highway, and general assignment news coverage.
Before coming to central Georgia, Kamilah received her master's of mass communications degree from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University in Phoenix. She was also a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Southwest Health Reporting Initiative fellow. She covered the health beat for Cronkite News covering minority communities across Arizona.
While at Cronkite, she was an anchor, health reporter, and video editor for Cronkite News and previously interned with the Tegna affiliate station, KPNX 12News in Phoenix. She's also interned with the Scripps affiliate station WLEX18 in Lexington, Kentucky and WLWT in Cincinnati, Ohio
She previously received her bachelor’s in broadcast journalism with a minor in political science from the University of Kentucky.
Kamilah aspires to work in the news industry and hopefully become a news correspondent or anchor for a national news network. She wants to continue to immerse herself in all aspects of healthcare reporting.
Born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, Kamilah is an active member of multiple organizations. She is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She was previously a 400-meter runner on the University of Kentucky track and field team.
Kamilah is independent and able to adapt to different situations. She’s persistent and can receive and give information in a timely manner. She is able to gather all her sources for stories that she covers quickly and efficiently. As a former student-athlete, Kamilah knows how to manage her time wisely and prioritize all her responsibilities.
