Kamilah Williams is a multi-skilled journalist at WTKR News 3 in Norfolk, Va. Since joining the station in June 2025. Previously, she was the weekend morning anchor/MSJ at 13WMAZ in Macon, Ga. She reported on a wide range of topics, including health issues, general assignment stories, and Georgia’s largest highway interchange project—a multi-million dollar development effort.
Kamilah is an Emmy winner and a recipient of both National and Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards, reflecting her commitment to impactful and high-quality journalism.
Before moving to central Georgia, Kamilah earned her Master’s degree in Mass Communication from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University in Phoenix. As a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Southwest Health Reporting Initiative Fellow, she focused on health reporting, particularly in underserved and minority communities across Arizona.
During her time at Cronkite, Kamilah served as an anchor, health reporter, and video editor for Cronkite News. She also gained valuable newsroom experience through internships at multiple affiliate stations, including KPNX 12News (Tegna) in Phoenix, WLEX18 (Scripps) in Lexington, Kentucky, and WLWT (Hearst) in Cincinnati, Ohio—developing a strong foundation in fast-paced, deadline-driven news environments.
Kamilah earned her bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism with a minor in Political Science from the University of Kentucky. She is passionate about the news industry and aspires to grow into a leadership role, with the goal of becoming a news director or general manager. She is committed to deepening her understanding of all facets of newsroom operations and media management.
Born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, Kamilah is an active member of several professional organizations, including the National Association of Black Journalists and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She was also a 400-meter sprinter on the University of Kentucky track and field team.
Known for her independence and strong on-air presence, Kamilah excels in live reporting and thrives in high-pressure environments. She quickly adapts to changing situations, gathers information efficiently, and communicates clearly and effectively. Her background as a student-athlete has instilled in her strong time management skills and the ability to balance multiple responsibilities with discipline and focus.
